Bring me my Bloodwine and my BetleH!
Feb 18th, 2006, 7:43pm

"Yeah we can do that,He lost but he didn't have to.  I need to know why he did what he did"

Bryan walked slowly down the hall with Bettina he didn't comment on her not wanting to go to the other matches. She had her reasons and he suspected why.

"All right, I do it.  Let's get you sitting, first..."  She led him into the restaurant and to a booth with high backs and padded seats.  "That isn't too rough on your...posterior?" she asked a bit dryly, then chuckled.  "Oh, yeah, that wasn't the part that got kicked!  That thing is heavy, I don't know how you even hold it up, much the less swing it."

Bryan smiled and laughed at the joke as he slid into his seat further.

"No its not to rough you scamp."You get used to the weight of the betleH it actually begins to feel lighter and lighter the more you use it and the more skilled you become."Bryan slumped down a little in his seat as he allowed his body to relax.

"Ah, I see, so if you use it enough, you don't even know it's there anymore..."  She grinned, but as she said the words, she knew the truth of them.  Even in her own experience, she knew that her tools had become like part of an extension for her, and as she used them, many times she was not even aware she had them.  And she knew that the patient became just that...something she was working to stabilize or save....even if it was a friend she was treating, she was able to separate herself from the individual and focus on her job...impersonal and impersonate.  And she wondered if that was part of this fighting...that they were not considering that they were actually fighting and injuring a sentient being...

"What can I get you?"  The waitress smiled at them, PADD poised to take their order.  The question jarred Bettina from her reverie.  "Oh, uh..ginger iced tea, please.  We're waiting on others before we order lunch."

"Sir?"  The waitress raised an eyebrow at Cash's appearance.

Bryan smiled at the waitress and her obvious look of concern.

"I'm competing in the betleH competition."Bryan said smiling.

The waitress shook her head in understanding.

"sorry i forgot about that been so busy. What can i get ya?"

Bryan thought for a moment.

"I'll have a altair water.......extra cold."

the waitress finished taking there orders and quickly left.Bryan tapped on his com badge.

=/\=Cash to toreQ if your feeling better i'd like to buy you that drink i owe you.=/\=
Bryan looked at bett and smiled he hoped his former opponent would agree to meet them.

toreQ entered, just as Cash was calling over his comm.  "You might have more luck if I was wearing a comm."  He said in humor as he limped in, his leg bothering him more than usual.   Not to mention he was still pretty sore.  Having been treated with Klingon herbs twice he now reeked of them unfortunatly and some of the less tolerent patrons moved away.

Bryan laughed.

"yeah i suppose i might!Please sit!"

Bryan took a sip of his altair water. He was starting to feel better now a lot less pain.
Which was good considering his next fight was less than one hour away.Bryan motioned for the
waitress to come to there table.

"So please order whatever you would like!"

Bettina smiled as toreQ settled at the table.  "You're looking better.  I'm amazed at how quickly you all can recover."  From her experience, the few times she'd been injured by nothing more than a blow or two, she hadn't wanted to move for days!

OFF:
I'm at work today, so access is limited.  So don't worry about waiting on me.  If you want to converse alone, you can write her leaving to the ladies room or something!

toreQ sat heavily in a seat at the table.  The 44 year old was recovering well physicaly, but was still tired and food would do him good.  "Heart of Targh, Rokeq Bloodpie, and a chech'tlutlh."  He ordered.

Bettina smiled as toreQ settled at the table.  "You're looking better.  I'm amazed at how quickly you all can recover."  From her experience, the few times she'd been injured by nothing more than a blow or two, she hadn't wanted to move for days!

toreQ chuckled, "Warriors have to be tough.  Otherwise we never would last threw battle!"  He said with a Klingon grin which of course meant it resembled a snarl, but his eyes told what it was in a humored way.  "How is the shoulder?"

Bryan stopped laughing. He looked at toreQ and locked his gaze.

"Thats why i wanted to talk to you."You could have done worse....won even ,yet you held back...Why?"

Bryan needed to know why toreQ did what he did.He knew what he would have done in the same situation
and it wouldn't have been what toreQ did.

"Because defeating your oponent is not always winning.  I could have beat you, and posibly killed you in process...  But it would have been at the cost of something greater, Honor."  toreQ explained.  "What is more important?  A badge of metal, or the way you live and die in life?"

"Spoken like a true warrior," Veska said as if announcing her arrival.  It had taken her long enough to get here, but they didn't need to know what was her delay.

"You have ordered my food and drink already toreQ?  If not, I may take back my treatments of you," Veska said as she found a place to sit.  She nodded to Bettina and remembered Cash as toreQ's most recent opponent, though she did not know him.

Bryan let toreQ's words sink in.He knew that given the chance he could have been perfectly capable of killing toreQ to win.He looked at bettina who was watching him studying his face.He suddenly felt the need to hide.

"I've never fought anyone who didn't care in someway about that badge of metal the award to come or the accolade awarded......except the few people like you i've met here."I think im starting to understand ..understand what you've all been trying to show me."Bryan sighed deeply and took a long drink of his water.

toreQ took a drink of chech'tluth and a few bites of his food. He looked between the man and the woman.  He was about to speak when Veska came in.  Looking up in distraction he responded, "Urmm... Actually I've been waiting for you to arrive first."  He chuckled, "After all, you didn't tell me what you wanted."

He stood and introduced them, "This is Veska.  She has treated me these last 2 rounds and I owe her lunch as well.  Cash and..."  He never caught the woman's Name...

"Bettina."  She smiled and nodded.  "Petty Officer two, MecTech.  I'm assigned to DS7.  It's good to meet you."  She looked over at toreQ.  "Thank  you for your help, sir.  I appreciate it."
