Final Moments

Major Lucas Rossiter stood against the main console in ops, the station was degenerating in to a war zone. Frantic calls from the Saturn had forced the crew of Serenity in to action, Rossiter himself had seen the aftermath of the explosion the sounds of debris hitting ops had caused him to whip his head around.
It wasn't a pretty sight, but crippled star ships never were.
From his vantage point he could see little specks floating away from the ship, in his gut he knew what they were but he couldn't spare a moment to mourn them. Forcing himself to look at the ops console again he began barking out orders relaying what Vice Admiral Jefferson told him over the secure comm.
He paused and blinked as John read out one of his orders, 'apprehend Taylor at all costs?!' Rossiter was more than a little surprised by that due to Taylor's standing on the station with the crew and his standing with Starfleet. It appeared as though John was firmly placing the blame on Dan's shoulders.
After several minutes things began to calm down, still sporadic reports met Rossiters ear of a few Admiral's fighting their way through the halls. He was loathe to send any extra security officers that way, something didn't feel right to him opening a comm channel to Jefferson he decided to probe for a bit more information.

John cut the comm angrily, how dare the Major question his orders and ask for more information. Vice Admiral John Jefferson knew he was the beginning, middle and end of the Chain of Command on this station, it appeared to him that no one else respected this. Rossiter questioned his orders, Security went about arresting Klingon's and causing him headaches and Starfleet sent people like Taylor to take his station away from him!
He stood up from the chair he had been sitting in and walked over to his console. He tapped a few buttons and smiled.
As he returned to his seat he spoke quietly to himself “This was for you Dan, but obviously someone else needs it more”

Rossiter stood motionless for a few moments after Jefferson closed the comm. It was fairly obvious the man was unhinged and beginning to lean towards entirely crazy. Lucas had half a mind to call Security off of Taylor and send them to Jefferson's room.
The voice of flight control rang out and pierced his thoughts “Sir, IKS meH'Haj is undocking without clearance”
Rossiter moved towards the view port he felt himself pressed against the transparisteel by the weight of the officers behind him.

The massive bulk of the meH'Haj began pulling away from the dry dock facility a few moments before the computer completed the undocking sequence. Sections of the dry dock were literally torn away had the ship been a Starfleet vessel the interlocks would have stopped it powering up it's engines – the Klingon behemoth had no such interlocks instead it just pulled itself free.
On the side of Starbase 92 three small boxes pulsed a familiar chorus of lights. Moments later the lights turned to a single colour and a series of explosions ripped through the top of Starbase 92 exposing operations and several decks below to the cold dark recesses of space.
No one saw what happened to those people sitting in ops, it would later be found that the internal sensors in the area had turned off a minute before the blast and Starfleet would remain clueless as to who caused the tragedy for forever and a day.
