On:

Kentra stepped into the ring and held her bet'leth in her hands. The evening of sleep had been helpful, and easier to achieve than she had thought it would be. Still she was nervous, she had not watched any of Q'olavraH's previous fights since she was too focused on her own but Q'olavraH was a Klingon and had ended up ranked higher than Kentra, which meant she wouldn't be a push over.

She swung the blade around as she loosed up her muscles. She saw Q'olavraH enter and smiled, "It is good to see you again, though it's too bad I'll have to beat you in order to go to the next round."

Q'ol chuckled. A smack talking Trill. What a surprise.

"After I beat you I will buy you a drink." Q'olavraH grinned.

The female Klingon was already warmed up. She had forced a hungover Klingon to wake up and suffer through a sparring session with her to work off her own hangover.

The wound in her side had been reopened in the preliminary rounds and QaraH had done her best to get it stitched back up. The wound ached, but would not cause her any problems unless her opponents knew of the weakness and purposely struck her there.

The best thing to do then was to make certain that she showed no weakness for a later opponent to exploit.

She thought Kentra would be a challenge, she had made it this far, Q'ol thought the Trill would fight with honor, since she knew Klingon culture and was interested in continueing to learn.

After a couple of swings to loosen her shoulders she took a ready stance and waited for the judge to start the round.

Kentra nodded, and when the match began decided to press in. She had to compensate for being physically weaker than the Klingon and she didn't have the energy to weather a round of attacks. She had to get a quick disarm because the longer the fight went the less likely she would win.

She made the first move, raising her blade and swinging it in a downward arc aiming at the Klingon woman's shoulder.

Q'olavraH blocked the attack and took a step back. The other wanted to test her, and that was fine, it would let Q'olavraH gauge how strong her oppenent was and let her decide how much energy she really had to use against her.

Q'ol brought her blade up to block another swing made by her opponent, then let her blade slide down the length of Kentra's. She pushed, seperating them and then took a swing of her own aiming for Kentra's side.

She waited then for the Klingon to make the next move, wanting to see if she could sneak in and score a hit that way.

With a grin Q'olavraH cycled through a standard attack sequence, gratified that Kentra blocked everything and then came back at her with an attack that was a few levels of skill higher than the one she had used. Q'ol blocked everything but then Kentra spun and snuck in under her defense. Q'ol barely got her blade in place to block it and she laughed.

"You are more skilled than you give yourself credit for!"

She attacked then, not full force, but with enough to truely challenge her opponent.

Panting now, as she was getting tired Kentra smiled, "I try."

She lunged again, swinging fiercly as she aimed low at Q'olavraH's waist hoping to sneak under her guard again. She was not sure how much longer she could keep this up, and certainly if it went much longer even if she won she would be totally wiped out and too tired to keep on for her next match.

Q'olavraH jumped back as the Trill's blade whistled past her waist. She grinned.

She moved in and in a series of short thrusts moved inside Kentra's guard. Once she was there she spun, drove her elbow into the Trill's side and hooked her blade into the middle handgrip of her opponents weapon.

It was perfect. She pushed and pivoted, knocking Kentra's blade out of her hands. Q'ol stepped back and grinned at the Trill who was standing there empty handed.

"It is my custom to buy the drinks after I win.... unless it is K'Hare.. I make him buy no matter who wins." She did not mention that she hadn't beaten K'Hare in a long, long time.
