The Lucky Strike
Feb 21st, 2006, 2:29am

K'Hare walked into the bar in a good mood.  The first day of matches, the toughest day this tourney had seen was over.  The day was over and he had made a promise to himself.  He entered the bar and looked.  It was late, but it was early for the night crowd.  He picked the best stool at the bar... not the most pretected, but the least.  The one that would allow the largest group to crowd in and he took a seat.

"A keg and a tankard." he told the bartender.  He laughed at the look he got.  "Don't worry, I will want more."

Then he waited.

qul'yIt was already there when the totlh entered.  However he stay a moment, watching at first... then he did something uncommon for him.  He approched the totlh without any sholving and calmly... coming up to the table he stood there and waited to be acknowledged.  His face showing a recent burn on the left side circular in shape and it was obvious he had been in some kind of fight not long ago.  Then again how often was he not...

T'shir walked into the Lucky Strike with no purpose. Dressed in civillian clothes, he only wore his com badge and had his ID in his back pocket. He spotted K'Hare at the bar and wondered over towards the Klingon.

Sitting down next to K'Hare, Jason ordered some bloodwine to soothe the aches and pains of the days fighting.

Quote from K`Hare totlh on Feb 21st, 2006, 4:30am:
"lagh', you come to steal from my keg? Or just proving you are the first with the courage to approach an admiral?"

"I came, because I am... 'confused' about some matters, sir."  He admitted, not quite comfortable with admitting such.  "I don't understand why you allow me here, why you would chose me among others...  for your ship."  He had trailed off when the Half Vulcan had arrived, and while he didn't leave he didn't say anymore, as he took a drink from his own drink.

It was his favorite mixed drink which was a mixture of the Federation drink, Aldebaran Whiskey and chech'tlutlh, having been able to find the Whiskey easier on the station he had started stocking it to take back to KDB.

Valkris walked into the bar it had been a long day, she had fought all seven of her matches but had only won one so had been knocked out of the compitition not that she had expected to get any further.

As she walked in she spotted K'hare sitting at the bar and standing next to him talking with him was qul'yIt, she did not want to be seen staring at him but could not help herself he looked awful and it seemed he was still getting into trouble as he was sporting some fresh scars.

She walked past them and took the next available seat at the bar she did not need to stay sober any longer as she was out of the comp so she called over the bartender and ordered a keg of Blood Wine and a tankard and started to drink.

She did not want K'hare to think her rude but she did not wish to stand talking with qul'yIt either as she did not know if she would be able to stay calm or if she would lose her temper and attack/challenge him in some way.

K'Hare shifted his stance and turned slightly so that t'shir was more behind him than before.  It was subtle and probably a coincidence.

K'Hare addressed his gunner and shrugged.  "I didn't.  I gave the choice to someone else.  You were their choice."

qul'yIt smelled her before he saw her, his eyes glancing in her direction breifly, and his breathing increased.  His heart started to pound and senses open, before he realized what was happening.

With a breif look of anger he snapped his eyes back to K'Hare's and made a poor attempt to cover it up.

"Und..." He didn't finish, to say he understood would have been a lie.

Though there seemed something else he needed to say, he blew out a huff of air threw his nose as he started to leave the bar the totlh was sitting at, intending to go back to his corner of the room.  Something was clearly bothering him though.

K'Hare watched the officer walk away.  It had been roS that selected him to serve on the Hegh'ta, or rather, roS's recommendation that K'Hare took when he made that change.  So far, K'Hare hadn't seen anything special about this officer and his history was certainly discouraging, but this was a test of roS as much as qul'yIt.

Still ignoring t'shir, K'Hare looked around to see who would next have the courage to walk up.

Dan walked it in to the Lucky Strike, still wearing his dress uniform from earlier. The first thing he spied was a large Klingon sitting at the bar. A vaguely familiar Klingon was walking away from him looking either a little bemused or down trodden. Dan couldn't tell which.

Walking up behind K'Hare he said loudly "I hope your not going to leave me looking like that if I ask for a tankard"

In that short time, qul'yIt's temper was starting to shoot up again.  He had backed up... turned tail and left like a coward.  He growled to himself as he realized that he was doing exactly what he was angry about while being angry.  This did not make sense.  Now caught between leaving and staying he made a quick decision.  It was time to stop turning away and to face what he had to do.  He came back.

"Can I buy you a drink?"  He asked abruptedly, despite the fact that K'Hare had drinks already.  He needed an accuse to stick around.  First thing in any tactical situation, was to learn about your oponent.  Which in a sense was what K'Hare was to him, but in another manner.  He noticed the Human, but paid little attention to him at the moment.  One obstical at a time.

K'Hare ignored the half vulcan fighter.  It wasn't being a marine or a vulcan that made K'Hare ignore him.  The marine made it clear he had no respect for Klingon culture, so K'Hare would show him none.

Dan made it to the bar first and K'Hare waved at the bartender for another tankard and poured one for him.  Then qul'yIt interupted before K'Hare had a chance to say anything.  K'Hare looked back at him with all seriousness, "A drink?  The only unit of exchange I recognize in a bar is a keg."

qul'yIt covered his reaction well and considered this.  Unlike many in his House, his resources where tight.   So was this important enough.   He needed allies, that much he was learning quickly.  He finally spoke.  "I might be able to achieve it in Chech'tlutlh, but for Bloodwine I would have to make a trade with someone."  He answered... doing his best to keep from looking in Valkris direction.

qul'yIt was not as dumb as he appeared at times, and once got him calm he wasn't bad, just tense and watchful.

Satian entered the bar for the express perpuse of finding K'Hare.  he had just recived an up date on Crazy Horse and it would seem that one of the engineer had placed a bet with the Engineer in command that he could get CH to serenity bace with in 13 hrs if they used the the drive Tucker had installed.

he had lost the bet when they blow the system 2 hours out.  they did no damage to the standard systems but did damage the cloak along with the drive.

they would be docking with Serenaty in about an hr.  Satian was glad he was not the engineers that had damaged Tucker's engine room.

He noticed there was a crowd around the totlh but this was bussness.

comming to attention he waited to be acknowlged by his TFCO

qul'yIt kept quiet, watching as K'Hare spoke to Taylor.  Though what K'Hare said quizzled him.   He hadn't yet been in service realy of his new commander.  Other than when he went along on one of mission before he was assigned.  His old CO,  he had never served outside a ship that wasn't either in part with his House or one of their allies.  And no.. he wasn't 'paid' well by them.

Then Satian came in, unlike most he might greet rudely he nodded his head in respect towards Satian.  Respect had been earned between them threw battle.  It was clear they knew each other.

There were a lot of side conversations and whispers in the bar.  K'Hare held his hand up so that those near would go quiet.  When they did he looked over at Satian.  "I know that look, you want to talk business... but there is an old bar rule that work stays at the door unless you are willing to pay the cost.  Maybe you can help out qul'yIt... he is here with a question and can't afford the keg to make me talk buisiness for 10 minutes."

He can buy his own, he has won enough off me on the Ta'pez fight,  I will pay him after I have delt with what brings me here. but first things first.  Satian then got the bartender attention and ordered a barrerl for the group and a keg of the "good stuff" for K'Hare.

The barrerl is to sooth the sore mussles of our warriors.

when the drinks were passed around Satian then turned his attation back to his CO.

totlh, Crazy Horse will be docking within the hour and will be at your disposal for the return trip to KDB. She requires a few repairs thanks to over eager engineers but Tucker will have that streatened out before we depart.

Valkris turned to see who had spoken to her by name, seeing T'shir standing there she recognised him from the previous night.

Thankyou, take a seat (pointing to the empty seat next to her between her and qul'yIt) If your company is as good as your manners we might even make a night of it" She said smileing, for the first time in days she was actually in a fairly good mood even seeing qul'yIt had not dampend her mood.

qul'yIt took the latanum, meeting Satian's eyes as he did.  He didn't completly understand why he would do this.  But he didn't turn it back.  To do so would have been an insult to his friend.

He ordered the drinks, "A keg for the totlh, and something for..."  His mind seemed to wrap onto the next words.  "...my 'friend' here, if he wants anything."

qul'yIt was uneasy as he looked around him a moment, and then he looked back to the totlh.  "I want to know why would you even consider allowing 'the jeghpu'wI' of the House Qortlh' a part of your crew?"  He quoted the name he was called by many he had known before coming to the station.   Of course before coming here he had never realy been outside the barriers the House had restricted him with.   Though at 38 years of age, he was only now stepping beyond His Houses iron grip, and the judgements he had recieved from them.  It was the only way of life he had known of, till now.

The fact that qul'yIt had said this in front of others, did make him uneasy, but to hide was not an option.

Dan took the tankard K'Hare had gotten for him and filled it as the other klingon spoke, he remembered his face from some of the pre-betleH Security reports he had read what was his name? Qwerty or something?

Dan drained half of his bloodwine as he sat down, he was glad the other Klingon had spoken his mind. It meant Dan had no need to push K'Hare in to answering.

He sat quietly waiting for his friends reply.

qul'yIt snarled slightly.  He pulled from a hidden place in his armor the House badge he never wore on outside and set it on the table.  "If I am in error of speaking to you, I will leave...  I called myself by what others know me as, but I am no jeghpu'wI'."

K'Hare looked over at Taylor with a questioning look, the words still hanging... "if I'd have known that..."

Taylor looked back, "You'd have said 'What the hell does that mean?'" he smiled as he said it, either he be right or wrong, but K'Hare needed a prod to make him give the poor Klingon a reply.

K'Hare laughed.  "No, I know what it means.  I'd have said, 'Why do I care what others call you?  I make my own evaluations.'"  He looked back at the tattooed officer.  "I already explained this.  I gave the choice of filling the open position to one of my officers.  It is as much a test of his decision making as it is a chance for you."  The totlh stood up for emphasis.  "Do YOU doubt my decisions?  Do YOU question my orders?"  His stare threatened to burn holes into the junior officer.

qul'yIt fumed for a moment.  He may be a Junior officer, but he was one with a lot of anger.  He nearly snapped back...  for a long moment he glared at K'Hare, struggling with his anger to keep from doing something foolish that would likely end up with a dagger in his gut.  He wanted to tell him right in his face...  "I questioned your intentions, as I would with anyone else.  I have been backstabbed to many times otherwise..."  He pulled a breath threw his teeth.. he was still angry, but he was cooling down and was getting a better understanding of what was said to him.   "It seems I have part of the answer now."  He said a bit calmer but watching for K'Hare's blade.

"Do not question fate lagh.  You may be angered by it when it costs you, you may challenge it when you start a quest, but do not question it when it goes your way.  Either call it chance or hope that you did something, somewhere, that you don't know of, to deserve.  This is a chance for you.  You have a chance to prove you are worthy of this challenge.  I do not care about your history.  I will judge you for myself.  In this case, someone else has given you the opportunity and if you fail, I will blame them and they can blame you.  If you succeed, then you have earned the success and proven the value of their judgement.  But don't lose the challenge because you are so angry at your past that you fail to see opportunity.  Get over it.  I do not schedule my life based on your demons.  You are not that important.  Prove me wrong with your future actions."  He stopped to drink and emptied his tankard.   Without looking he handed it to Taylor.  He kept his glare on qul'yIt.

"Now, get out of my sight before I get mad.  You are ruining my buzz."

Dan took K'Hare's tankard from him and moved to refill it, his mind mulled over his earlier conversations with Tauvits as he did. He was still kicking himself over the way he came close to spilling his guts so soon after they met.

He had to get a grip on himself.

Pulling the totlh's tankard from the keg he thrust it back in to the Klingons hand and lifted his own and draining half of the contents in one go.

"Come along K'Hare" He said with a forced smile let us drink.

Jackie entered the bar , the dinner earlier on cleared her mind a little; but the day's events still pressed firmly into her mind; which is why she came to the bar now, maybe a few mugs of bloodwine or the stuff toreQ had introduced her too the other night would help her.

Jackie wanted to keep a low profile especially after the impromtu match with Ch'Pok, but the Caitian also knew if she stayed away, she might give the impression that her spirit had been killed or she's been injured too severely or upset that she was out of the tournament, and she wasn't about to let that happen. She may have been out of the running, but she couldn't have asked for a better way end it. So back she was as if nothing had gone on, looking around the bar for a familiar face as she ordered a mug of bloodwine.

Jackie spotted Taylor and K'Hare off to the side, she gave a wave in their direction as she started making her way towards the two, not sure if it was right for her to join them or not.

Jade walked into the bar she had spent the last 2hrs looking for Tycho and had not yet managed to find him, she was getting annoyed it meant he was either hiding from her or he had gone to the zoomie bar where she could not go unless he was with her.

Well, (she thought to herself) if he wants to play hide and seek let him find me I for one intend to enjoy this shore leave.

Walking up to the now crowded bar she found a gap behind a Klingon male who was talking with a human male she did not notice their rank, not that it would bother her in her present mood but a few tankards of Bloodwine would help with that.

Jade called to the barman "Barman 3 tankards of bloodwine, now" he looked at the person calling out thier order and was about to say something to her as he walked closer but after taking a good look at her face and taking in the fresh looking scars he though better of it and just served her.

She picked up the first tankard and downed it in one she did the same with the second slamming the empty tankards own on the bar, letting out an enormous burp she wiped the back of her hand across her mouth then picked up the third and started to drink it taking the time to actually savour the taste of it as she drank it.

It would take some time for him to understand these people, but he knew K'Hare was right.  He shouldn't question the new chance he had been given, even if it was unexpected.  There was a renewed sense of determination in him.  This time was to take the chance he had been given and make his best out of it.  He had finally been handed a chance, he been fighting for so long, right out of the blue...

He looked at Satian now, still somewhat confused, but determined.  Though his look also said that he needed to speak to him soon.  "There are more watchers."  He told Satian lowly.  Then turned to leave, leaving the House Badge on the table.

"Sometimes you have to fight to give them a chance to prove themselves."   What he had said had been true.  He had let roS select the new gunner and he had picked qul'yIt.   K'Hare probably would not have.  He had not seen anything worth saving in the Klingon.   His past was too discouraging, but he'd given the choice to roS and now qul'yIt was roS's project, just as roS was K'Hare's.

K'Hare took another drink and nodded at Clawson as she started to come over.  "Looks like your newest project si here."  He smiled when she made it to the bar.  "Grab a drink and tell us how your interspecies negotiations are going."

Jackie ordered up some bloodwine.

"My what...?" she asked, slightly confused. "oh that..." she shook her head to clear it "it's... ah.. I don't know... " she admitted. "I have not seen him since ... things. he actually wasn't really on my mind in the last several hours." she noted.

The Klingon female moved from a shadowy doorway holding an Hoqra', after she moved away, another shadow moved from the doorway and went the other direction.  They had not been seen, of this she was sure.

While she did not trust the person she was being forced to work with, at least the information about the house war that they got for her was accurate, and no one could ever find out that she had gotten the information.  He had given his word that he would never let anyone know about their association, but she knew his word meant nothing.

She read the information on the Hoqra'.  Ship and troop placements and the numbers on both sides.  This was a report from 12 hours before.  Things still looked as if K'rahl could prevail.  She knew better than anyone that he was better when outnumbered and outgunned.

She still did not know if this was a ploy on his part to make himself look as if he had nothing to do with the rot in his house.  A way to save face.  She might never know.  Her contacts within K'trol's ranks had been killed at the very begining of the conflict.  Apparently they had not hidden their tracks well enough.

She finished reading the information and erased it from the Hoqra' set the internal mechanism to destroy the Klingon device, and then waited for it to begin to disintegrate from heat before she tossed it into another darkened doorway and watched as it turned into a pile of plasticy smelling ash.

She moved toward the Lucky Strike.  She was sober.  She had sent a message to the protector of her children, after reading the update he had sent to her.  Now her business was complete, and she needed to get drunk.  She hated moving around in secret.  It disgusted her to do so, and the sooner these matters were concluded the sooner she could get on with life.

She entered the bar with a frown still on her face, until she saw the Caitian Admiral sat with K'Hare.  Then she smiled a little.  She wondered what fun her friend would poke at the fuzzy creature tonight.

Q'olavraH was distracted when she entered and she reacted without thinking, forgetting she was on a Federation Base for a moment, she shoved the Klingon male away from her and growled at his clumsiness.

"QI'yaH!! yIntagh!" She snarled at him, turning to face him fully as she did so, then did she see that it was the same warrior who had the chutzpah to question her orders on the meH of the vessel she commanded.

"It is you!  I suppose it makes sense that the same fool who would question me repeatedly on my own meH would be to clumsy to watch where he is going!"  She sneered but there was no venom in it.  She knew this one's history and could understand his bad attitude... to a point.

qul'yIt snarled, "Far as I am concerned, your the one who 'asked' me on that fool's mission!  You didn't command me!"  qul'yIt snapped back before he could stop himself.  Still he anger had come back full force and he barely had it held back.   He knew part of what he said was wrong, but he couldn't take words back now.

Q'ol snorted.  "You are an idiot." She turned and moved toward the bar.  The clumsy oaf could follow her if he wanted but she did not have time to deal with hot tempered males until she had some sort of alcoholic beverage in her.

Growling to self, he placed hands to his head a moment in frustration amd then reared back a fist and punched a transparent aluminum window, breaking a few knuckles rather than the window to his disapointment.  The pain cleared him mind, perhaps he was an idiot, he couldn't help thinking once he realized how stupid that move was.

Then his mind to went to darker thoughts and he found he wasn't quite finished drinking...  he turned from the crowd and he headed to his corner of the room, and got a drink.  Thinking with regreat that he would not get a chance to try any of the drink Satian had helped him pay K'Hare with.

She heard the noise of him punching something.  At least it wasn't the back of her head.. she would have had to kill him for that, and the carpet in here was the wrong color to have Klingon blood all over it.

She plopped herself on a barstool, and gave her attention to K'Hare's keg.  She raised a brow as she sniffed it, then grabbed the nearest empty drinking vessel and dipped it and drank.  Satisfied that it was good she dipped her mug again, it was small so she would have to dip it a lot.

She motioned for the bartender and when he came over she told him to put everything qul'yIt drank on her tab.

OFF: Well now that party girl is here we can get down to serious drinking.. before the night is over K'Hare will arm wrestle with me to.. but I gotta get him much drunker than I get me.. or I'll never win.

qul'yIt looked over at Qol a moment, and then ordered a heavy drink.  Though outwardly he didn't show any pain, he was sore and his knuckles now pulsed with his heartbeat.  The day old Burn on side of his face itched and without thinking he reached up to scratch the scab amd he drank deeply, allowing everything to slide from his mind...

Alex stood at the bar grumbling to himself and drinking heavily. He should be sleeping not standing here drinking. The klingons in the bar were starting to annoy him.He decided to pay his bill and leave when someone put there hand on his back and pushed him back toward the bar.

"Please Mr.Chadwick don't leave yet."A man dressed in a fancy suit said as he smiled at alex.

Alex scowled at the man's abruptness.

"Why the hell should i stay....and who the hell are you!"Alex spat at the man.

The man just gave a polite smile and took a padd out of his pocket and set it down in front of alex.

"I have a message from your benifactor for you.."

The man activated the padd and a quick flashing sequence of lights played across the screen. The look of anger drained from alex's face as he turned to the man and gave a nod.

"I understand...how soon?"

The man smiled

"It needs to be done within the last 24 hours of the tournament.....with no questions asked."

Alex shook his head yes.

"I understand he'll be dead by my hand before the end of the tournament."It won't be hard to acomplish"With that alex picked his drink back up and didnt watch as the man turned and slowly left.

"Well... I got some experience with those" she said. "but.. heh" she took a swig of her bloodwine. "Somehow after today's lesson at lunch" she smiled a little. "not to mention the events afterwards... " she said. "whatever happened to Ch'PoQ after I left?" she asked, suddenly looking up.

"the...." Jackie shifted uncomfortably, suddenly wondering what her actions looked like to the Klingon if he saw her in action. She walked away from a deathmatch after all, but that was the more honorable thing to do in her eyes. But Jackie stood by her decision despite what anyone might've thought. "the guy who challenged me to a match after Round 7." she said, suddenly feeling she might be needing more bloodwine than she already had.

"We can only hope he learned something from the experience and that he wont blame you for his embarrassment."  He drained his tankard and refilled it.  "You do seem to attract a certain amount of attention."

He went thoughtful and finally added.  "I think I would have left him alive too on the hope that he would learn something."  K'Hare thought of sallon and how his choice had been to kill and then how he never forgave himself, finally leading to his withdrawl from KDB, service to the Empire, and a return to his home of betazed.  It also reminded him of how satian choose not to kill sallon over the incident.

"Embarrasment..." Jackie let out a sigh. "if he'd have proven to be a stronger opponent than me, I'm fairly sure he wouldn't walk away....I got lucky. I mean I am not sure how I  won round 7 especially after Ta'pez broke my blade" Jackie shook her head lightly, "at least I know I fought with honor"

She paused, mulling things over as she took a swig of bloodwine, the liquid scattering her thoughts for a moment.

"Certain amount of attention...Wonder why. I'm tring to keep a low profile, but...." she paused. "Don't tell me that was a ....test to see if I'm worthy as a mate....." Jackie said, suddenly very alarmed, wondering if she should just go into hiding for the next few days to avoid further trouble.

"Ah.. well...phew.." Jackie breathed a sigh of relief and shook her head lightly. "I'm pretty sure that performance would've proven a thing or two to potential... um.." Jackie trailed off, not sure if she wanted to say the word, instead she took a big gulp of the bloodwine before slightly shifting gears. "mind you my performance has proven a thing or two to me as well" she admitted. "Even if I didn't make it to PhaseIII ...this time around. K'Hare laughed.  It was difficult to understand how she generated such attention.  "A worthy endeavor.  Perhaps next year you can improve your standing... already, beating ta'pez has made many notice you."  He took a drink.  "For good or not."  And he laughed.

Jackie blinked, nearly choking on her bloodwine at the 'worthy endeavor' comment the Klingon made. She cleared her throat

"Yeah well...hey I know I have a knack for getting into all sorts of trouble even without trying" she smirked. "i honestly didn't think I'd beat Ta'pez, but...after my blade broke" she shook her head "my instincts just went into slight overdrive with that..."

Satian then spoke up.  I can take a look at your blade Admrial to see if it can be repaired, or failing that I can refordge it into something more Kitty friendly. balanced more for your...particular.. style of fighting

Alex stood at the bar still drinking. He hated to drink actually but it made that bad feeling in the back of his head go away for a bit.Why did he feel like he should leave here now?He had an intense desire to go back to his office and check up on a things. He shook the thought from his mind and picked up his bottle of whiskey and poured another drink. The bar was crowded and some of the people were starting to get on his nerves.

"Glad I made it as far as I did with it then. Although I don't know if Ta'pez is going to appreciate it to have been beaten by a replicated blade" Jackie chuckled lightly, she paused to take a swig of her bloodwine. "the circumstances under which I came to the tournament; all I could do was replicate one" she said with a light shrug.

Jackie threw a pointed look at Satian at the 'kitty' comment showing her displeasure at being called that.

"Very tempting offer,  I'll have to look into it" she said to Satian, "I doubt I need one heavily customized for my own style though." she said "I've had a chance to fight with Taylor's blade and I think  that match went quite well given my skills with a betleH"

Q'ol drank 8 of the small mugs full of bloodwine, then she got tired of dipping so much.  She looked around for a tankard and ended up vaulting over the bar to get it, then she vaulted back over and settled on her barstool again.

Once she filled her tankard, and had drained half of it she glanced over at qul'yIt.  At least he was quiet, and seemed to be enjoying the drink she was buying for him.  Maybe he would keep his mouth shut when in her vicinity from now on.

Finally with a bit of alcohol in her, she turned her attention to K'Hare and really looked at him.  She had heard something earlier in the day that had piqued her interest, but then she couldn't seem to find out more.

With a thoughtful look she took another gulp from her tankard, and glanced between K'Hare and Admiral Clawson as they conversed.

qul'yIt enjoyed the drink for sure.   Feeling the buzz from the drink and the calmness that settled over him.  His mind had started to wander off, and he has nearly settled completely in the room...

Then...  "BBEEEELLLCCCCHHHHHH!"  Was heard all over the room, coming from one perticular corner of the room.

'Clearly' qul'yIt appreciated the drink...

Kentra entered the bar, surprised to find it so busy even this late at night.  She had been wandering around after shopping and now was wearing one of the new dresses she bought.  This one covered enough so as not to show the bruises she had picked up during her first two rounds of fighting.

Tomorrow would be another fight, and maybe more following that.  Still she was proud to have gotten into the next round and determined to celebrate.  She ordered herself a mug of bloodwine without thinking.  Upon it entering her mouth she gasped and started choking at the awful taste.  She had forgotten again, with all the Klingon culture she was absorbing that it was not her but Denax her symbiot's previous host that had loved bloodwine.

She sighed and looked at the still full jug, now she had to drink it.

Off: Sorry for the long time between posts still having internet probs  Angry

On: Valkris looked at T'shir as he introduced himself in full "LT Cmdr Valkris XO of the crippled USS Halifax now based at KDB, pleased to meet you. (handing him a full tankard) Let us drink to our meeting and possible friendship.

She had just passed the tankard over to T'shir when qul'yIt shouldered into her as he passed by the walked straight into QolavraH, Valkris just laughed at his attemp to draw her attention to him or just to anger her she was in to good a mood to care what he thought right now.  He had made it clear that even after telling her that he acepted her for how she was not who she was connected to he had walked out on her once he knew her mothers house, she had kept her word to him and kept thier relationship quiet but she would not let him get away with such a blatent insult a second time.  But for now it was not worth the hassle.

"Still looking for a fight to pick with someone?" Jackie asked, chuckling lightly as she watched the Klingon. "You can always try picking one with me, but I don't know if I'm not gonna end up sending the wrong signals again." she said, trying hard not to laugh; she took a swig of her bloodwine whilst trying to contain herself from laughing as she remembered the Lunch earlier on.

Qa'taraH strode into the bar, looking around for anyone familiar, especially her ... target, she could've sworn she'd seen him walk in there. And surely enough there he was talking to a Caitian. Qa'taraH wondered why he was wasting his time like that, she noticed Q'olavraH as the Klingon be' leapt over the bar to get herself a bigger container.

Ordering a tankard of bloodwine, the Klingon glanced around once more before making her way to Q'olavraH to join her.

Q'ol heard her before she saw her.  The determined, light stride could only mean a female Klingon, so she turned and grinned when she saw Qa'taraH.

"Ah!  You found me.  I will introduce you to K'Hare.. he is looking for someone to fight with, maybe you can oblige him!"  she laughed at her joke, knowing that K'Hare wanted a verbal battle with one of the 'weaker' species.

She motioned to K'Hare, interrupting his conversation with Jackie.  "K'Hare, Jackie, this is Qa'taraH.  I met her yesterday."

Introductions finished she dipped her mug in K'Hare's barrel again and took a slurping sip of her bloodwine.

"You are not that hard to miss Q'olavrah la'" The Klingon be' nodded, she let out a laugh as Q'olavraH mentioned K'Hare looking for a fight.

"I would be ... happy to oblige him" she smiled a feral-ish grin as Q'olavraH introduced her to K'Hare.

For the past few years the Klingon had only seen him from a distance, never spoken to him face to face as she was unsure how to make it happen until she met Q'olavraH.

"K'Hare totlh" Qa'taraH nodded both at him and the Caitian female. She observed him for a moment, now that she was closer.

qul'yIt had been tempted to take up the challenge K'Hare gave.   However he had alrready done enough damage and he sensed that a challenge with him would probably not be welcome.  Instead he got up and Joined Satian's side.  "You did not have to do that."  He said just in hearing range of Satian's sharp ears, "And it seems the effort was wasted."  He said with a Gutteral growl.

Did you not get the answer to your question?  you paid for information and recived it. Then speeking a little louder. If K'hare needs a drink to lossen his tounge instead of answering a direct question then so be it. Some need a little something to  speek in public. and if it proves they are blowing hot air they can blame it on the drink.

qul'yIt muttered to himself as Satian spoke up loud enough for the others to hear.  "I got my answer, but to the wrong question... "  He said.   Seeing that there was no turning back, he took the events in stride.

The drink allowed him to let loose a bit as he spoke directly to K'Hare, but his look said Q'ol was part in this as well.  "I am willing to make a deal.  I will give you my respect and Loyalty in service, as well as 3 barrels of bloodwine...  If you will accept an 'Honorable' challenge to Combat, and test me in the ways of the Klingon warrior."

K'Hare nodded at the new arrival.   Her hair had a reddish tint that seemed familiar.  "Qa'taraH, have a drink," he turned, grabbed an empty tankard next to his keg and filled, and talking over his shoulder, "I know I have seen you around.  Not just here, but on KDB, or maybe at another one of these tourneys."  He turned back and handed her the tankard.  "Have a drink and tell us of your battles."

She was quite striking and he was sure he had seen her before.  She exuded an impressive confidence that hinted at some sort of command.  Perhaps she was an officer looking for a permanent assignment... but he thought more likely she commanded some small House vessel.

Before she could answer Satian and qul'yIt spoke up.  He almost went into his rant about mongrels and then remembered his own embaressment.  He surprised himself forgetting it so often.  But qul'yIt gave him an excuse to ignore the half vulcan.  "qul'yIt, I would happily accept a chance to spar but I had other plans for tonight, a different sort of combat.  Perhaps later if things remain slow or I could be convinced to oblidge you sooner if the room demands it.  But first, let us meet this warrior."

"Understand, sir."  The acceptance of sorts was enough to suit him as he looked to the be' and tried not to gawk.  The be' to his eyes was of remarkable strength and beauty.   For a moment he did his best to not stare, and then remembering Valkris he allowed some to show threw.   However not for long as bile seemed to climb his throat for what he was doing to Valkris.  He looked away to the bottom of his tankard as he emptied it.

Depite his anger towards her, he couldn't bare to hurt her in that way.  What had he become?  His heart beat out of his chest everytime he was near her.  She had melted right threw the wall of fire he had built and stood un-defeated so long.  So far she seemed to have kept their relationship secrete, but qul'yIt unwittingly threatened to break the very deal he had asked for.    qul'yIt looked for more to drink...

As valkris and T'shir sat drinking the barrel he had just brought she could not help but notice the looks that qul'yIt was giving the be' that had just entered the bar.  At first she was angry at his blatent disreguard for her feelings when she noticed that he was no longer staring at her but rather at the bottom of his tankard, she thought his recent behavior was slightly out of character even for him it was almost as if he did still care for her.  She thought to her self that if he was not careful he was going to end up dead or seriously injuredfor doing something really stupid, she stopped staring at him and concentrated on her drinking partner as she did not wish to insult him by ignoring him.

ON:

**Lucky Strike**

He had tried to get to the right bar as Tycho had not been to one of these tournaments.  He had seened to it that their things had been put in the their quarters before he even started to look for the bar.

Which was more harder than he thought as just trying to get through the crowds was hard.  But he was able to find the bar once more but was surprised to find that Jade was all ready there.

Sneaking up behind her, he wrapped his arms around her as he kissed her cheek.  "You know trying to find this place is a lot harder than someone can think.

(End Snip)

Jade was just about to order another tankard when she felt the arms go round her and stiffend slightly then came the kiss.  She instantly melted into his arms her bad mood calming almost instantly, so you found the place at last i was begining to think that you had gone off with the boss and Ro and left me here all alone with all these strange men.

So just where have you been all this time i have been trying to find you for the last 2hrs.

She took the tankard from him and shown him a hint of a smile.

"Yes, I was present at the last year's tournament." she said, fixing K'Hare with a look now that she was finally a lot closer to him than she was in the past. She held up the tankard briefly before taking a gulp of the bloodwine. "I am sure we have....crossed paths before" she spoke.

She smiled fiercely at the mention of battles and the chance to tell a story or two; but the smile turned into a frown and a hard stare as qul'ylt and Satian spoke up; she threw the two males a displeased glare, wondering if sometimes males who could talk like that should have their vocal cords cut out to keep them in line.

She  sat and drank her bloodwine as K'Hare put the two males into their rightful places. Qa'taraH smiled, K'Hare looked like he knew what a be' needed sometimes.

"I have my own ship now" Qa'taraH spoke.

K'Hare nodded understanding.  He knew she wasn't in command of a KDF ship in the KDB area of space or he would have seen files on her.  And her armor didn't have rank insignia (even though the avatar does) so she must have command of a House ship or an independant one.  His guess, from her manner and lack of insignia was that she was a private frighter captain.

"So, you are here for the tournament or on business?"

"Business brought me here last time, but I decided to stay around and observe the tournament" Qa'taraH replied, pausing to take a swig of her bloodwine before continuing. "Last year I delivered the bloodwine for the tournament as it was my...duty at the time." she said with a slight sneer.

"This year, I arranged to have the freighter specifically so I can do the run from KDB to this base so I can then stay and watch the tournament" The Klingon be' said. "It is safe to say I am here for the tournament and business" she said 'and maybe a bit more than that...' her slight sneer was covered up as she took a swig of the bloodwine out of her tankard.

Jackie watched intently as the conversation continued. She took a few moments to finish her tankard of bloodwine and call up for another one, before focusing her attention on the newcomer as she spoke. There were significant differences between Qa'taraH and Q'olavraH; Jackie was curious to know more. She silently sat back and watched the conversation unfold keeping her ears perked up

Dan finished his tankard, he had managed to slip away silently when Jackie arrived. He wasn't looking forward to speaking to her, there were issues still up in the air. Things he had to sort out, things it wouldn't do for her to find out.

He placed the tankard on the bar and left.

Q'olavraH watched the conversation, amused.  The longer it went, and the look she saw in Qa'taraH's eye, the more amused she became.

Q'ol's mind was clicking away, making connections as she drank another tankard of bloodwine, filling her own mug when it got empty since K'Hare seemed to only notice Qa'taraH's mug...

She watched, and chuckled into her mug.

Jackie noticed Q'olavraH chuckling, she threw a curious look at Q'ataraH and K'Hare.

"what's so... " she left the question unfinished as she addressed Q'olavraH. "She seems to be....He.. er.." Jackie wasn't sure what the right words to chose to describe what she was seeing now without offending anyone.

Playing the part of the oblivious male K'Hare simple continuned the conversation.  "Yes, by our standards the humans are dishonorable.  They fight to win at any cost... even costs to their own souls.  That is what this event is for.  They say they are open minded but they still view us as drunken fools who simply want to kill.  They have no understanding of a truely old, complex, culture.   Even our some of our own have this flaw."  He took a drink.

"I have had many tell me to give up.  That teaching all of the federation is a hopeless task... I can't hope to convert them as fast as new ones are born.... but then..."  He held up his tankard.  "We are Klingon!  We do the impossible or die trying!"

"How many of those 'open minded' have actually stayed with us to know for sure whether we are drunken fools who simply want to kill?"  Qa'taraH asked, she took a drink from her tankard before saying anything else. "perhaps they will understand better if they were to spend some time amongst us in our environment"

Qa'taraH shook her head.

"Do not give up K'Hare. It is a very honorable cause." she nodded, holding up her own tankard as he spoke. She joined him in the toast. "Perhaps I shall join your cause to assist."

After everyone close had toasted K'Hare noticed his tankard was empty again.  He reached for the ladel and discovered that it was time for the keg at hand to join the dead soldiers in the corner.

"Well, it seems we need a new keg... perhaps now would be a good time for me to accept the challenge of my new junior officer."  He looked around the group around him, noticing for the first time that is was populated with a good number of females.  He wondered why he hadn't noticed before and why he had noticed just now.

"What say you... do I take a break from my duty station,"  he tapped the bar stool, "for this exercise?"

"Federation has a point, for once." Qa'taraH replied, earning herself a glare from the Caitian.  the Klingon be' fixed the Caitian with a vicious smile before turning her attention to K'Hare.

Q'olavraH arched a brow and spun on her stool to face the room, but said nothing.

She had been watching Qa'taraH and had made up her mind to check the other female out.  If this be' was setting her sights on K'Hare then it was up to Q'ol as his 'sister' and friend to make sure she was suitable.

Somehow at that thought she felt an odd ... sensation ...

Frowning she looked at her mug, then the feeling passed and she belched.
