Facing the Music
Feb 20th, 2006, 11:10pm

ON:

K'Vok moved through the corridors of the station, trying to find Ness. He had to take Ness to the ship to deal with Ta'pez, and then, stalk the kitty.

Ness was heading back towards the guest quarters he had been assigned.  A pillow and a matress were nice changes from the slab he was used to on the meH'Haj.

K'Vok saw Ness and headed over to him, "Ness!" The halfbreed bellowed.

Ness turned and saw K'Vok heading towards him.  K'Vok did not look like he was in a particularly good mood, but then, Ness didn't remember ever seeing K'Vok in a good mood.  Ness looked around, didn't see anyone else nearby.  The next place he could expect to find people was... several minutes walk at best.  His room wasn't close enough either.

He would have to deal with K'Vok here.  If he was lucky, K'Vok was not angry at him, but needed to tell him something.  But the chances of that were slim to none.

"Come with me, terran." K'Vok barked, "Let's go."

It was quite obvious K'Vok was not coming to tell him the latest gossip going around the base.  "I don't know anyone named 'terran,' and I am pretty sure that you know my name."  Ness would have given up a lot right now to have his Type-I with him.

K'Vok snarled, "Come. With. Me."

"Where?" Ness asked, he wasn't about to follow someone who has attempted to kill him more than once to who knows where.

"To the meH'Haj. Follow me, or I will drag your unconscious body." K'Vok rephrased it, looking at the terran with barely constrained malice.

Ness thought about this quickly.  The meH'Haj, weapons restrictions didn't apply, nor did prevention of someone from seriously injuring or killing someone.  K'Vok probably wanted him there because there K'Vok would not be arrested.  Though, on the meH'Haj, Ness might be able to get access to his phaser, or if needed, he could instruct the computer to administer an airborne sedative.  There were options there.

He started walking towards K'Vok and the general direction of the meH'Haj airlock, maintaining distance from K'Vok himself.

The kr'tach moved quietly, watching the terran. It was interesting to say the least. He wanted to see the man dead eventually, or writhing in pain, hopefully after what he said to kitty, he would be.

Ness was also watching, but he was watching K'Vok.  Ness knew that K'Vok, mentally, was less than stable.  Although he knew Ta'pez trusted K'Vok's motives and decisions, even Ta'pez couldn't guarantee that K'Vok wouldn't lose control of himself.

K'Vok entered the airlock, glaring at security guards. He hated the yellow-collared terran weaklings, but since he had restored his honour beating the cheating Beckett in the last round, he wouldn't need to be arrested. Now he just had to deal with Ness and continue stalking.

Ness followed him into the airlock and onto the meH'Haj.  Ness knew instantly that the tournament's rules on behavior and conduct no longer helped him.

K'Vok looked at Ness, then moved, heading towards the 'echs quarters.

Ness could now determine their destination.  Ta'pez would not have wanted K'Vok to kill him, but if Ta'pez ordered K'Vok to retrieve him, it was because the ra'wI' was not happy with him.

K'Vok looked back to Ness, "Figure it out yet, Terran?"

"I have figured out that Ta'pez is not pleased with me," Ness said truthfully.  He had no idea he had done anything wrong.

K'Vok smiled coldly, leading him on to Ta'pez's quarters. "You'll see, terran."

Something about K'Vok's smile told him that this was not simply one of Ness's mistakes involving unfamiliarity with one Klingon mannerism or conception, but one that affected K'Vok personally.  Either that, or K'Vok reported to Ta'pez in the first place, or both.

K'Vok stopped at the door of the quarters, "In, petaQ."

When the door opened, Ness stepped inside, unsure of what he'd be dealing with.

K'Vok followed Ness, closing the door behind them. Then he stared menacingly. "The 'ech will be here shortly."

Ness did not answer.  This didn't look good.  If Ta'pez was angry with him, that was bad.  Ness was pretty sure that if Ta'pez wasn't around, K'Vok would've picked him off long ago.

"Have you figured out your sin yet, terran?" K'Vok asked coldly.

"Sin?" Ness asked curiously, "No.  But you could save us a lot of time by enlightening me."

The half-breed laughed harshly, "You'll see soon enough."

Ness was quite frustrated.  He was stuck in the room with someone who wanted him dead, and his CO was apparently angry at him too.

K'Vok waited, looking at Ness carefully. He wasn't sure what to do, waiting here. Where was Ta'pez anyway?

Ta'pez entered, tired and of ill content for those around him, especially the two idiots he was about to talk to now.

His doors opened and he stepped in, a rather lost looking human and a mongrel were waiting at him.

"I see the petaQs of the meH'Haj are already here." he annouced

That wasn't good, Ta'pez rarely called his crew petaQs.  Ness had no intention of saying anything until he knew what he did wrong.  Unfortunately, "innocent until proven guilty" and "the right to remain silent" were foreign concepts to the Klingons.

"PetaQs? Plural?!" K'Vok growled, he had a feeling he was going to end up killing his charge if this turned the way he suddenly thought it was turning.

"Yes plural." Ta'pez said. "I am not the only person watching others K'vok. And from what I have been and have seen you have acting in a very petaQ like manner."

K'Vok blinked a second, realizing he meant the kitty. "She came onto me! She threw a mug at me, throwing heavy objects is a clear sign of a wish to mate!"

"Then why have you not finished that job!" Ta'pez shot back. "If you wish to rut with a Caitain in Fed uniform then do so in private! Making your self the butt of jokes on the station is not helpful. Your actions reflect on me!"

"Do you think I care about you and your ghuy'cha' house?!" K'Vok bellowed. "My actions should reflect on myself and myself alone, Ta'pez. What has your house gotten you? A position you didn't want, the death of two people you cared about, and the slaughter of how many people? Who did you have to align yourself with to get onto that complex to destroy to meH'Handra before I got there?! MY ACTIONS REFLECT BADLY ON YOU?! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TALK!"

The half-breed growled lowly, clenching his fists. As for rutting with the Caitian, he would deal with her soon enough.

Ness waited, extremely silent.  If he didn't know that he was next, he might have enjoyed this.

"ENOUGH!" Ta'pez yelled."I have done whats best for the house,
meH'Handra murdered those close to me, those of my house, I did what I
was requiered. I would have done the same for you."

K'Vok's wild eyes never left those of his joH's. He could not believe that Ta'pez, a man who hated him almost as much as he hated himself, would say that. "You surpassed what was required, and you had to be held back."

He stepped closer. "You know your duty, if you see any dishonor in my
actions speak or be silent! Your actions landed you in a mental ward."
Ta'pez hissed in klingon except for the last two words which were in
standard.

He turned towards Ness. "And you stop smirking before decide that
spacing you is a good idea after all!"

K'Vok's eye ticked, but he went silent. He would let Ness be dealt with before he spoke to Ta'pez and challenged him for his dishonour. This was now a personal matter, and one he would hardly let go of before honour was served.

Smirk?  Ness might have liked seeing K'Vok getting yelled at, but he didn't think he was smirking.  He also wondered if Admiral Clawson knew why K'Vok had been following her...  K'Vok, in love?  It was not something Ness had thought of when he wondered why he was following her.

"Sir," Ness said, "I have not been told what I did wrong."

Ta'pez walked over to his desk and picked up a Klingon PADD. "You can't keep your mouth shut."  he said to Ness.

The words and tone were cold, everybody knew that Ta'pez was furious and little could be done to tame him.

"Sir?" Ness inquired.  He hadn't revealed any information he shouldn't have, had he?  He couldn't think of anything.
